Peter Gray v Centennial Coal

Environmentalist, Peter Gray today launched court challenge against Centenial Coal and their aspirations of ripping up the Hunter Valley and turning it into a lovely open cut coal mine that will ultimately result in more greenhouse gas emissions than all the motor vehicles of NSW in any particular year.

In their environmental assessment this was not even mentioned as a consideration. It is this fact that Peter Gray is contesting.

Morris Iemma says that this climate change thing that he has heard people talking about seems like a tragedy waiting to happen. Yet , Centennial Coal are so cool that they can go ahead and contribute to an an environmental disaster of truely tragic proportions.

Well done Peter.

Its Easy Being Green

While we are on the theme of making a bit of a difference in our own little way, this organisation
are making it really easy (and affordable) for people to recieve their own energy saving packs via the internet.

Logon to http://www.easybeinggreen.net/ and register to receive your pack of energy saving lightbulbs as well as your AAA water saving shower head and all this for a mere (wait for it) one dollar.

Yes......$1.00

By using these devices as an alternative to the normal halogen burners and shower heads you can:

* slash $150 off your household energy bill
* save the release of up to 2 tonnes of greenhouse gases
* save an average of 21,000 litres of fresh water

So go on....dont say you can't make a difference!

Project 2996 - Remembering Kiran Reddy Gopu on Sept 11

Project 2996 pays tribute to every one of the 2996 victims of the tragedy that occured on Sept 11 2001. Each victim has been allocated to an individual blog to pay their respects on and arround the tragic day.

Kiran Reddy Gopu was a graduate in computer sciences doing his masters degree at University of Bridgeport.

He was in World Trade Center, Tower 1 on the 97th floor when psycopathic fundamentalists flew the highjacked aircraft into it.

Friends say that he was relentless in pursuit of his goals and never gave up always encouraging his friends to do the same. It was his dream to work at the World Trade Centre. This dream came true when he was employed by Marsh & McLennan as a software engineer.

He was 24 when his life was taken.

A Tribute to Steve Irwin

Steve Irwin was the genuine article. He was living his dharma. He used the word 'love' a lot and he meant it. In a world full of phonies, he was real. He wasn't putting it on. He was being himself. In Life Being real is the best thing you can be. Don't be afraid to be real. There's a Steve Irwin in all of us.

Dr David Suzuki - An Inspiration!

Last nights "Save Anvil Hill" fundraiser at the Enmore Theatre was awe inspiring. I left there feeling that saving the planet was a monumental challenge, but definitely a possibility.

An overriding theme that echoed through the theatre was that every little bit of effort by every individual could ultimately have a potentially planet saving impact. The other is that it is quite evident that we cannot rely on our appointed leaders to do what they are meant to be doing...looking after us and our children.

David Suzuki has devised a 10 point challenge urges as many people as possible to focus living by at least 3 of them. By doing this, we could change our seemingly grim destinies.

So far 221,886 individuals have taken the challenge, I urge you to do the same.
